ShadowBane release a little shakey

Postby Zoidmeister » Fri Mar 28, 2003 11:22 am

Reading through the ShadowBane VN board kind of reminds me of Anarchy Online release *shudder* LMAO

I thought this was hilarious extract...

"if you haven't been following things the registration server was giving out phone numbers, addresses, etc. for the customers to other people trying to register
As for the lag 1300 people on and the entire server bogs down, lags out and then crashes (happened several times on Mourning last night) that IS a problem. Not to mention I don't know if last night they intentionally rolled back Mourning about 2 hours or if that is how frequent the character saves are but that is a problem as well. "

The fanbois are defiantly telling people there is no lag and they should buy Windows XP and upgrade they're machiens to make it run better!

Just wait till people start to PvP and they will say "WTF" in unison.
I betad for 2 months with a r4 thief and pvp is a freaking joke in SB.
My synopsis of SB will be that of AC2.
Large players on onset, in about 3 months it will be down to the die hards while the rest have either returned to EQ or DAOC.
Or hell, if SWG is out by then..SB will look like a wasteland.
As for SB making money, not gonna happen. I am not bashing the game, but in order for them to make a profit they are going to need hard DAOC/EQ populations for a long period. Too long in development really crippled them in the cash flow arena.
Reminds me a lot of John Romero and his Ion Storm with Daikatana.

Yeah I've been following that board for a while today too. It is very similar to AO's release, except at least there the fanbois could say that the graphics were too much for your newb computer to handle...where as here thats quite a stretch.

Sorry the subscription stuff is unforgivable. And yeah the fact they are already crashing the servers in the EXACT same fashion as in beta, and hitting lag in the EXACT same fashion as beta kinda shoots the whole "but it is in debug mode!" excuse in the foot. It happened in AO, AC2 and WW2O, and now its happening in SB.
Venderic, Candide or Mercutio in games.

Its not THAT bad guys, ease up. Ive got lots of people in the game (even though im not myself) and the only complait so far as far as lag goes is the rollback on the servers.

This is nothing near AO.

I blame that shit company UBI soft they sucked since Rainbow six There servers Suck and there Software sucks. I heard that WP wanted to pushback SB and UBI said if you do were not going to release it. And sure as shit its UBI shit that fucked up and its UBIS site that causing a majority of the problem. I been playing since this afternoon its seems ok....
DAOC is mega simple and SB is mega complicated, so far ill reserve my judgement.

My vote is to let the fanbois pay ubi to beta test this game for a few more months. If they work out all the problems and I'm really desperate for a new game fix I'll reconsider then ;)
