What trade should I take up?

I currently have some Skinning/Leatherworking under my belt atm. 200+ Skinning, and maybe 100 Leather. I've heard we have 2-3 300+ Leatherworkers atm. So I was thinking of going Herb/Alch. With these skills, it seems that too many of these crafters would never hurt.

If any of you techies want to create a poll, please go ahead.

herb/alchy is probably the most useful, but you won't get rich doing it.

Herb/Alchy gets annoying after awhile.

I've had 300/300 and for the higher level potions, you need to spend a lot of time farming herbs. And to be honest, it really can be a complete waste of time.

Sure they come in handy, but blah. Plus things like Flasks are near impossible to find and it requires a shitload of regents just to make one that can disappear a minute later if you die.

:onfire: I'll tell you what not to be: tailor/enchanter. It f*&%ing sucks. Granted I can enchant, but so can a ton of other people (i.e. no profit) and the materials are god-awful expensive now. My tailoring was slightly profitable, but because bags aren't BOE, there is a surplus of them and the price is in the toilet for everything but the highest quality. And forget about making mooncloth bags. A Traveler's Backpack is just as good and sells for around 25g. The mooncloth bag requires 2 mooncloth to make. The current going rate on mooncloth is about 30 g/mooncloth. It doesn't take a math genius to tell you that it is a waste of money to make the bags. The one thing you can make profit on though is mooncloth, but at 4 day cool down timer, you're better off farming stuff. I'm making an alt to assist me with the timer (just need to rush his ass to 35 then get his tailor to 250).

If I knew when I started, what I know now, I would have gone skinner/miner or miner/enchanter (only disenchanting). At level 60, I would drop the skinner or enchanter line and pick up engineering. Of all the professions, engineering offers the most versatility for pvp (with the exception of possibly alchemy, but then you can always buy potions, whereas only engineers can use engineer devices). The explosives have the potential of greatly increasing your damage. The weird gnomish and goblin devices also provide an unpredictable and entertaining distraction that I think would be amusing and sometimes helpful. A whole team of engineers could be devastating in pvp, open up with damage/stun and then move in for the normal dps. The downside of engineering is that it like enchanting is hella expensive. That is why you do a duo collection profession to start, sell all your items collected and then use the cash to buy equipment, epic mount, and then use the remaineder to buy up engineering. However, that's just me and my own disatisfaction with my current WOW professions.

Beafraede - 60 Undead Priest, 291 Enchanter/300 Tailor (why did I ever do this? The Runed Arcanite Rod I need to make to do 300 skill enchants is going to cost over 200 g to make :( )

I was gonna say that, DAMNIT! Stealing my thunder.

I'm 300 herb/alch and I made a decent amount of cash making the high level mana/health potions while I was farming for my epic mount. Now that I'm done with that farming, I really haven't made many more of those potions. I've been saving most of everything I find (not in potion form as they only stack up to 5) so that when Honor is introduced (like today) I'll have a decent supply of herbs for invul potions, speed potions, etc. PvE, eh alchemy is ok, but I think in PvP it'll be very nice. Then again, you can always buy potions/have one of our 20 alchemists make them for you. Whereas with engineering you have to be an engineer.

I still really think you should pick up massage therapy, with a specialization in happy endings.

A happy ending is always nice :D just wish I could remember what one was like. :mad:
Here is a little food for thought. Training cost are high and there are a lot of expenses before you hit 60. So I have stuck with skinning and mining they provide a good source of cash flow and in the end I can drop one or both. Use the AH to get rid of the drops you have no need for. So far I have been able to support myself. And along the way I have been able to help out guild mates by giving them the items that I have that they can use.

also more acranite transmuters would be nice. think we have 3 that i know of. but still thats only 3 bars every 2 days.

best to keep bidness in house if you know what i mean.
