Lastly honor system fix from DIE ... I quite like this idea of bounty and bringing in a head for rewards - we'd have a ton of fun doing this (PVP only server)

<i>We all know how the new honor system is going and for the most part we love it. The problem I'm addressing with this post is the reverse griefing, or low levels griefing high levels by jumping into large scale events and getting killed by the AOE's. I knew this would come into play and is already rearing its ugly head.

Instead of getting negative dishonorable points for killing low levels, the price for the bounty of your head should go up. Everytime you kill or grief (kill repeatedly) low levels, you will incur bounty or dishonorable points. Players on the PvP server could bring up a window on their UI which would display the top 50 griefers on the server, their last known locations, and how many points their head is worth. If the player has a certain amount of grief (bounty) points, they themselves should be able to be killed repeatedly (regardless of lvl) by bounty hunters until the grief points go back to zero. The bounty hunter could then turn in the head of griefer x for some kind of reward. Having a reward for killing griefers would prevent griefing using the "correct" in-game mechanics, the players. If you then get killed while you are on the bounty list, you will lose the points you are worth, but you should not lose those points until you are caught and killed!!!!

Why a head you ask?
Looting someone's head is better than gear loot, monetary loot, etc. It takes no time to pick and choose, and its an item an entire group/raid can loot. Turning in a head would be the best PvP reward I can think of, and it will be able to keep statistics server side.

I also think players should be worth more points if they kill more people than they die. This might be able to be tied into the system, and maybe is already in the works, but I just wanted to add my 2cp.

I truely believe this will make PvP fun and worthwhile for every type of player and bounty hunting is alot of fun solo while you are LFG. The reason people kill lower lvl's is to make the higher levels come to fight them. I believe this system will expedite this process.

I assume most of the items found in this article http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/pvp-article.shtml

will be better seen/experienced on the pvp server.

Personally, I'm leaning towards the PvP servers. I really enjoy the added suspense from being subjected to open attacks at any given time, it makes the game much more exciting for me. While the PvE in WoW is pretty damn good... with PvP thrown in the mix from time to time, imo it puts a nice touch on what normally would be just another day/night of grinding/questing.

With that said, I wouldn't touch the current implementation that is found on the PvP servers at the moment. There is just way to much griefing to find that type of game-play anything but frustrating. (early days of UO anyone?) But looking at what we do know, and from what Blizzard has stated, the goals they seem to be shooting for, is a gank/grief free game environment... where open warfare/pvp is done so between even-level players. Will they be able to achieve that with their "Honor System"?... that is the million dollar question. I believe they will get it right.

One thing that concerns me... Going off data obtained during the stress test... the PvP servers all showed far greater balance in population between the two factions as opposed to the totally lop-sided numbers found on the PvE servers. Perhaps something to think about when making our decision... Link below shows that data...

PvP server will be nothing but bored ppl ganking lower levels. No thanks.

I play games to have fun, being ganked by some moron 30 levels lower than me is not my idea of fun. If PvE servers weren't going to have any pvp at all I'd say sure play on a pvp server, but it will.

so, if you are Horde, can you attack or want to attack other Horde players?

After reading this seems, PVP server is the way to go.

You won't be able to attack same faction people on either server.

i dont c the whole thing about being ganked by someone 30 levels below u all that much of a problem in da future even if it is when we start we will mostly b on at the same time and i know u solo like a mofo fard so das prolly why u dislike dat

i for one can play like 3-4 hours a day cause of work or maybe 6 if i make it my no life thing.... but since i play mmos to play with my friends and not to grind i dont c dat as a prob. guess it depends on how u play.

Based on everything I've read so far I think the PVP server will provide the closest experience to DAOC RVR. The honor system provdes some relief to full grief PVP so I think Merlinites will be fine and us old Andred crowd will adjust well. If the honor system is toned down then this server would become a more open PVP server - for good and bad. Seems Blizzard is still experimenting on class/race balance before they tweak this so it could change.

Dungeons are instanced so there is nothing like DF or dungeon camping. We should be able to XP/quest relatively easily.

Only other concern is population may be very high on the PVP server making quest completion a little tough due to quest waiting. Other nice thing is that we'll be competing for quests with fellow faction players so should be fairly safe.

Guilds like Fatalis are pushing for a FFA red server which would carry more of the concerns I am seeing. Red servers as they stand are hardly tough to play on IMO. There are 'certain' zones you have to be attentive to but it really is not an open gank fest 95% of the time.

Open pvp normally results in portal camping/zone entrance/exit camping continual newb griefing.

WoW pvp may be a lot more like daoc rvr - zone based which looks good to me.
