Whats your RL story?

Postby Joshll » Wed Apr 28, 2004 2:30 pm

I run with some of you more than most of the people I know in real life. And we get bits and pieces of info about our in game friends, but don't really know eachother all that well. Yes Law, this is a gei thread, but who are you all?

Me:
The old man of the clan. Almost 40. Got a awesome wife who is ultra cool, super easy to live with, but won't play DOAC with me no matter how much I try to sell it. A couple of boys, 6 and 12. I'm their soccer and baseball coach. :satisfied: The 12 year old is a total DAOC fiend now too. Hah, I feel like such a hypocrit when I tell him that playing 6 hours straight is long enough and to go outside and see the sunshine and hang with his friends. Anyway, he mostly plays morded, he likes the instant action bit over there. DAOC is a great bargaining chip though to make sure he keeps his grades up.

I've been a mainframe system programmer for about 15 years at a big billion dollar insurance company in a little town of 20,000 people in Minneeesota. So I'm a geek. For last five or so I run our java application servers and do some Unix Sysadmin here too. Alot of the new stuff that runs through here I get to look at first which keeps me interested. No one else on my staff is an expert on the technology I work with so I've got alot of freedom on how I want to do things. So I'm a lifer here most likely, it's a good non-stressfull job, 17 more years and I can retire and be a full time gamer & party boy. :P

I don't know how some of you can play daoc in college. I swear I would have flunked out. I was distracted enough as it was.

Even though DAOC takes way too much of my time, I'm into snowmobiling in the winter (I love speed), downhill skiing, and summers I like to waterski, mountain bike, and windsurf. Windsurfing on a super windy summer day is heaven imo. I used to have a motorcycle but a flat tire blowout at 70 mph in rush hour traffic in Minneapolis freaked me out. When I can get off my lazy butt, I play Tennis, I used to be competitive, now I'm just old. I have gamed since I was 13 and feeding $20 in quarters into Choplifter (that was alot back then, and we walked 15 miles threw the snow to school too!). I used to be big into Unreal Tournament and the whole clan scene competition thing, but now I kinda suck when I go back and play shooters.

So thats me.
(yah, this was an essay but I'm at work and really don't want to think about what I'm supposed to be working on right now)

Whats your deal? Himm/Jahl are you transplanted German's? Swedes are all you guys students? Rolo got a job yet and a LA swimsuit model girlfriend? etc.

32, married, no kids, live in my house in Austin - bout 6 miles from D

9 years in the Army, inactive reservist currently, Warrant Officer, Russian Linguist, Military Intelligence

Josh, if your company begins with a "U" and ends with a "C", I used to work as a consultant for it (big Health insurance company in Minn.) I left my position as Manager in a Management Consultant division of a 'Big Five' consulting firm. flying to client sites every week (I mean EVERY week) for 5 years took its toll

currently in a Masters of Education program and teaching High School. will probably end up teaching at the college level - less stress, and the scenery is better than dingy cubicles a client loans me when I slave away to make em look good!

my story is simple...well not really.. it has it's ups.. and it's down., lets begin shall we =)

My life started off simple, a family which belieaved that everyone can survive in someway on there own, and thus at a very early age my mother decided to have me begin to make my own breakfast/lunch/dinner, aswell as decide my own bedtime and such. so basiclly, i was on my own (my older brother and older sister on the other hand.. were not.. they were still 'apart' of the family), so there i was, doing my own thing.. and of course school suffered.. in the 7th grade i was forced to repeat the grade.. not becuase i was a stupid kid, i was just the "class clown" and would constantly joke around.

yadda yadda yadda, 8th grade comes around which was a pretty wild year., during this year my brother was just entering college, and the firts thing he did was steal a copy of photoshop/illustrator/qwarkxpress.. and installed them on our crapy lil mac at home.. and thus the descory began.. i myself have always been into art.. but that we will focus on later =).

so unto highschool!, i got into one of those "specialized" art highschools in the city, and tried to "start anew" well balanced focus school life. FAILED horribley.. again i joked around and fooled around for the next 4 years.

During this time i was still banging away on learning those apps my brother kept stealing from school.. i was also doing alot of gaming in warcraft2(over AOL mac tcp/ip, which was the only way beside kali to play online back then), out of 7000 players in the AWOL i was rank 9. i finally got a PC, and picked up starcraft.. which then took over my gaming life.

When i was about the age of 16(not sure what year, might have ben the 10th grade) i picked up my first job as a freelance designer / messenger at a lil place in the city, and enhanced my graphic know how.. by the 11th and 12 grade i mastered every app out there, even to the point where i would teach the computer classes when the teacher wasn't present.(i also learned how to network the machines in school so i can play warcraft2/sc over the school network).

so come senior year i descover that all those classes i screwed up in the 9th and 10th grade i will have to take over in night school., i also discover that my folks don't plan on paying for my college like they did for my brother and sister. SO i decide to not bother going to college, and not waste any time on pre-sat, nor SATs... so i'm hitting night school for 2 years. at this time i'm still working at the lil deisgn place as a deisgner/messnger (www.matrixnyc.com).

so finally at the age of 19, i'm done with school, and have to figure out what to do with my life =P, so i hear of this art director for one of this hip-hop magazines that is constantly hiring art ppl, and freelancers.. so i take a shot at it.

I call him up, and he says he will try me out.. i work as a intern for a week, after the week is done, he hires me as the webmaster for there site ( www.xxlmag.com )so i'm 19, with a pretty solid job, and think back on one of my goals.. to buy my own appartment/home in a better hood then what i was currently living in with my folks.(which at the time are already planing to sell the house and move out to florida to a summer home they had out there).

So there i was, working my ass off, and expanding myself into other parts of the company(harris publications) i managed to expand myself into the comic book department(taking it over) and the basketball magazine (SLAM).. at the age of 21 i had enough movie whored up to buy a place.. also at this time, my brother and sister have already moved out and married(at 26/25 age ) so my parents were already on hate mode for me slowing down there life.

so at 22, i found the place i wished to move to, got everything worke dout, packed my bags, and moved out.

so now at 24(going on 25) i'm still a immature "class clown" without a clue how i actually made it this far in life, perhaps it's luck, perhaps it's god.. whatever it is things seem to be going ok so far..

thats my story =)

Thirty-something single mom of a great son named Gage, he has a great gift to drive me nutso sometimes, but for the most part I am truly blessed with a wonderful child.

I work in real estate and have been for the last 10 years [big change from my previous occupation of strip club bartender for the previous 13 years]. I oversee the day to day operations of 228 rental villas spread over 14 acres [5 blocks]. I work directly for private owners who I am quite fond of. I have been on this specific property for 3 years now and have the residents trained well and the property almost runs itself. I am completely spoiled as far as work hours go, I am in the office at 9:00am, break for lunch from 12-1:00pm then return back for 3.5 hours then scoot out of the office for the day at 4:30pm.

Working here has alot of perks, like no rent/mortage payments, I also do not pay electric and the owners have even offered to pay for my basic phone line, but I declined that. But the greatest perk received from working here is being able to send my son to one of the best private schools around. You just cant beat that. :D

I have been gaming for 25 years now [geeeesh Im getting old] and will probably be gaming for 25 more.

I play DAoC when the mood hits me, but I also play AD&D with a group of guys that I have been campaigning with for the last 8 or so years now. We normally gather on Wednesday evenings, but sometime move it to Thursdays. [3 of them are air traffic controllers and 2 are cops so things tend to come up]

Aside from gaming I have many interests, my passion in life is writing. Some of you may remember me sharing with the guild that I ran a text MUDD for just over 5 years. I always enjoyed writing but my experience running that MUDD and RPing with amazingly talented writers/players truly birthed this passion for creating within me. I hope to be published someday and when/if that happens you all better buy my books]!

I love the beach and am a hardcore rocker. My ex owns and operates a Death Metal Production company and being able to hear/meet and just be part of the growth of some amazing musical talent was a great experience for me. So if any of you are in a known metal band of some sort, you just may have met me in your travels.

I love Harely's and think that being in the wind at a decent speed is such a great feeling of liberation and freedom that Im sure I will enjoy riding for the duration of my lifetime.

I have a very tight family and some great friends, most of which I have had since my Jr. High School Days.

Just about everyone that knows me tells me that I can be a major bitch, but also insist that thats a good thing. Personally I think it's funny.

I have a very low tolerance for stupidity but a huge heart for the needy.

I am currently finding myself turning into a Yoga junkie and look forward to my first out of body experience not enhanced by sexual activity. <laughs>

Oh! Im currently single, so if you know anyone in the Hollywood/Fort Lauderdale Florida area who has a great sense of humor, a working brain [working properly], a creative vision for life and is TALL [must admit Im a sucker for the tall ones] that I can dominate[haha] please feel free to hook me up! hahahaha

I will be returning to school in the fall to take some advanced creative writing courses as well.

Hmm, all I can think of atm. :P

i'm a chinese kid with an attention problem having grown up in the age of video games. pushy parents = good grades. i ended up in some johns hopkins program in 7th grade, ended up taking math classes at ucla in 8th grade. but i am lazy by nature, so while i graduated a year early from high school, this only got me as far as college.

i picked a nerdy college and regretted it for 4 years. in college i never went to class (pink will vouch for that.. ). I was paying $37k/yr to be a bum, which makes no sense. i somehow graduated with a decent gpa in a difficult major learning basically nothing. my little brother, who graduates on saturday knew more than me about my supposed engineering focus, by the end of his freshman year.

i got a job out of college at motorola doing some fancy sounding cryptographic stuff, but the work is pretty easy, and my boss, while sometimes a nazi, is really an awesome guy since he lets me come into work at noon some days as long as i finish my work (which also means i don't get out until 9pm... like today). i've been here 2.5 years or so, and daoc kept me from drinking too much. although it hasn't entirely prevented it. on my birthday a few weeks ago, i got kicked outta the room in hollywood of all places for being drunk. then 2 other bars wouldn't let me in because i couldn't stand up straight, then the cops stopped me. good times. except, not. on weekends i sometimes party in santa monica where all my friends live anyways. i have a pretty cool apt up there near the beach. in san diego daoc turned me into a hermit. hehe. good thing i don't have a computer in l.a.

rolo lives in venice now right? i guess i should try and meet up with him one day, but am a truly lazy.

*edit* lemme add my bwc history. i have these two retard friends named pink and slimbo. they convinced me to buy and play this god forsaken game. then they convinced me to leave my piece of shit home server alb/guin where i was a kickass smiter. actually the smite nerf played a big part of that too. then us 3 started andred, where i was chilling in camelot city and i was like holy fuck. i know these two dipshits rhuac and karamar! then being an elf chanter, i was persecuted, so i figured if i was gonna die all the time, might as well have these two idiots die first while i ran like hell. so i joined them, and met D, although i did know him as weak sauce on alb/guin (maugen). then realizing that the guild was complete shite when d wasn't logged in, i started pretending that i knew everything (actually i wasn't pretending) and started bossing people around. then when everyone jumped ship (i blame hall the elf champion) and started on mid/merlin, i said fuck no since i won't pve ever again.

then i went back to alb/guin, rejoined my piece of shit elitist asshole guild KT, then got myself booted after calling them asshats. then I rejoined with ex-CoE people on hib/lance since they were the only people who would tolerate my consistent bitching. fast forward to today, i was wrong, no one can handle my shit. they all left for another guild or went back to mid/merlin.

so all i do now is whore pt on kim and d's toons still insisting that i know everything.

that is all.

Lets see here...Well I was born in East LA....(wasnt that a movie?) Lived in El Paso, TX for about 5 years dont ask me how that happened. Moved back to California and lived in Covina, CA until I joined the US Air Force in 98. I served for 4 and a half years as a military policemen had lots of fun met alot of friends and arrested alot of dumbasses. I swear I have an exciting story or two to tell about it all but not right now. :P

After the Air Force I landed a job with Lockheed Martin doing pretty much the same thing I did in the Air Force just not the police part but the security monitoring part. Am currently going to school in an attempt to get a better job within the company. Also applying to become a Sheriff for Santa Barbara County. I started playing daoc with my RL friends on Alb Gawaine played a scout there. My friends left I got bored and moved to Hib/MLF where I had other RL friends. So I play there and they leave old guild goes dead and server becomes gank guild heaven.

Celestrial aka Eirene was my friend on MLF and told me this was a good server to play on so I joined BWC here and been having fun ever since.

Oh im 25 years old and figured it out it doesnt reduce your insurance rates at all WTF!!!!! Married and have 2 kids, son and daughter no more for me thanks. Im also very into cars and love mine to death.

Bah I'm no good at this shit but lets see what I can come up with....

I was a huge pothead for about 9 years of my life. I was the only person graduating in the top 10% of my class (HS) that smoked weed. I also took a shitload of acid and ecstacy in high school...sometimes at the same time ;) great combonation.. Well my high school was on Long Island about an hour away from the city.

From there I proceded to RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) and went for my CS degree. Met alot of cool fucking people there including Rolondo, Gravelender, and Mikeydee. I did an internship for a year at Electronic Arts in Orlando, Florida. Great company, cool people, SHITTY city. I don't recommend anyone live there. Anyway I managed to get my name on the credits for NFL Madden 2004 and Nascar Thunder 2004. And yes Hall i know MADDEN SUCKS. If you want to know what I did on these projects, I basically worked on the menu system....half graphic design, half scripting using a flash like program.

Well after 6 long years I finally graduated college. I quit smokin weed about 5 months ago and I really dont think its changed my life for the better. I still forget shit all the time, and now I get all stressed out and anxious because I got no damn outlet for my stress anymore. Anyway I'm back on Long Island (sigh) looking for a permanent job making video games anywhere in the country (if you can help me here let me know) been graduated for 2 months and my parents were getting sick of giving me money so I had to take a bullshit 9-5 job at a computer services place. So thats where I'm at right now.

Most of my friend consider me to be a pretty crazy dude. I am spontaneous... love to do shit on a whim. I'm always down for anything as long as it is within my financial means =)

I love video games (obviously) started my MMO career with EQ on Ayonae Ro got a wizard up to 52 there before I quit EQ for DAOC. I actually started on Hib MLF with a Mentalist and got him up to 34. Of course hib cloth casters were so incredibly fucked up on release so I got sick of dieing and went back to EQ. Eventually I came back to DAOC when Mythic got their shit together and tried Mid Merlin. Started my Thane (I know I'm a sucker for gimps) and fell in love with the character. Started Chaos Theory with Rolo and GL and eventually merged into BWC..a long long time ago...and been with these guys ever since. Of course I left to try every other MMO that came out since then (they all sucked!) I also spent a shit load of time over on Mordred. Got a bunch of 30's and a 44 SZ SB (why do i love gimps?)

Well thats my life in a nutshell. I have a ton of stories but perhaps I'll save them for the next time I'm bored at work. Good to hear all the BWC True Holywood Stories =) Lets hear more! I wanna hear everyone's stories especially Dwaynes. Maybe it will give us some insight as to why he is such a crazy bitch :P

I'm a 36 but going on 16 so not far behind Josh ;)

Born/raised in Toronto Canada and currently reside there. Work in IT since University so that's about 13 years ... 9 of those years with my own company doing consulting (www.seersoft.com - nothing there yet) ... doing everything from 8086 assembly through C/Java doing everything from OS drivers/schedulers fixing JVM and Solaris threading bugs for UNIX to financial switches/user interfaces. 3 years at Sun Micro as a consultant and mainly J2EE Architect and do Project Management for IT projects. Travelled all over the world from 93-98 working for two companies ... mainly the U.S. but most interesting gig was 3 months in Saudi Arabia for Citibank SAMBA. More dangerous gigs including 1 month in Guatemala, 1 month in Venezuela Caracas and a seedy month in Guaquil Ecuador ;)

Addicted to games since the late 70's (yes 70's) playing arcade Asterioids, Centipede, Galaga, Donkey Kong, Defender, Pac man through the early 80's with the Infocom text adventures (original Adventure being my first big addiction), later Intellivision/Colecovision and hard-core PC since the first Wolfenstein's first release. BTW I played Adventure on a Commodore PET 32 ... friend's father had one and I constantly was over there using it. Game addiction inspired my computing career but unfortunatley never ended up working for any gaming companies ... I should say *yet* since maybe one day I will. MMORPG wise a friend introduced me to Asheron's Call in Dec 1999 ... my first night I was utterly amazed at the multi-player interaction (my first experience) and I played 10 hours straight ... I fondly remember creating my first character in Rithwic and having a friend escort me down through the old portal system to Mayoi which became my home for the 2+ years of AC that I played. I fell in love with mmorpg's that day. There still is nothing I've experienced like my PK life/archer on Harvestgain (before archer nerf) ... to much fun. Since AC played Anarchy Online briefly then DAOC since. Thought of trying EQ but most people warned me to avoid it.

At the moment my newly bought house is taking most of my free time with renovations etc. In my spare time I like to ride my old motorcycle (old 79 CB750K Limited Edition 8K miles!) , drink, and generally lounge around doing nothing 8) My best friend owns a nightclub in downtown toronto so I tend to head there on Friday/Saturday (www.minknightclub.com); trying to get him to commit to come to our Vegas gathering.

My consulting career may end as a close friend became Senior VP of IT for Sprint Canada so I have aspirations for heading toward a director position there as I start focussing more on management roles for my 40+ career.

Umm wtf should I start....

Ok I am 30 years old (goddamn compared to most of your tards, I am young) and married to a great nazi wife. I am sure most of you hear about her in some form or another as me getting wife aggro and having to log early. I have been married for only 2 years now but life is still good. No she isn't a MAIL order bride but my wife is from Japan. She hates gaming and isn't thrilled that I enjoy it.

I have been gaming for about 22 years, mostly the electronic type. I guess my peak would be winning the California state championship at Street Fighter 2. My wife says that is nothing to be proud of. Although it is fun for me to go to Japan and play "Beat the white guy". That is when all the Japanese guys line up to play me in some fighting game and I WTFPWN them for hours on end. 3 hours on 100yen last year, it was great.

I don't drink or do drugs, never have. Not that I give a shit about others, but I know what things do. That leads right to my career at the moment. I went to San Diego State University and received my BS in Chemistry. Currently I am an Analyitical Chemist for a major pharmaceutical company in SD. Not that I enjoy my job, but the pay is ok. The evilness that is my wife is a CPA. That really gets into my spending. =(

As for my likes, well I love my car even though she is hurt. Some fucktard ran a redlight and t-boned my modded WRX. Other than that, I enjoy good anime and gaming. I used to do crazy shit, but within the last 10 years have slowed down. I used to race off road motorcycles (250-500cc 2 strokes) and mountain climb. Not anymore though!

WHy am I in BWC? Good damned question. It all started when i pimped Gundorf with an X-bow way back on Palomides. He had an NS and I had and Inf. This was long before they were 2.2x-2.5x skill classes. Tavish was a guildie of mine and we just stuck together. After palomides, we moved to Andred. I was in Fatalis ran by that ass pounding tree hugger of a waste of his mother's egg Powah's guild. Gundorf went there as well and I helped fund the initial beginings of COE. As well as introduced Tav to D. We came to Merlin after that but left because leveling sucked ass. After that some cock-knocker had the idea to move to guin and make an all steath group. If i figure out which fag made the decision, i am going to castrate them. Well anyway, we went there and I made my scout. Lubu and Ude pretty much teamed up wtih Tav and I then. Since TOA came out and stealth took it in the nuts, we came back to Merlin. Now I am the one man army powerhouse that needs more heals than Jon Hopkins University can dish out.

Born in brooklyn NY, father is brooklyn born but his parents are from Puerto Rico, Mom was born in Jamaica, so I guess that makes me Jamaican/Puerto Rican :onfire: Went to High School in the East New York part of Brooklyn where I took Electrical Instalation and wiring. Been through a shit load of colleges(DeVry, TCI, Katherine Gibbs)cause I never really took them seriously, boy that was the biggest mistake ever. Had the opportunity to join the Local 3 Electrical Union with my dad but turned them down cause I was working at the New York Stock Exchange at the time, another big ass mistake, now I am waiting for the applications to come around again so I can hopefully join them again. I guess you could call me a old soul, I love to just stay in and relax, that doesnt mean I dont enjoy going out, but I just like to chill, relax, make love, and watch movies

Almost 24 years old, was engaged, spent almost 4 years of my life working at the New York Stock Exchange as Broker Clerk, took my Series 25, was working on my Series 7 when Jefferies and Co. bought out my firm. Got laid off like 6 months after that, fell into depression and thought about just ending it all but what good would that do. Collected unemployment and went back to school. Wasted almost 2 years of my life I didnt stick with the school thing, went to school after school cause I wasnt in the right state of mind.

Going to school now and working, majoring in Computer Networking and Network Administration. Graduate hopefully this december. Used to run track and play baskettball. Spend wayyyyy to much time playing daoc lol, sad but true. I love to just hang with my lady to be honest, shes my best friend and we pretty much do everything together. After I graduate I wanna start in a IT department and work my way up. I love computers. DAOC is actually my first mmorpg, I was into Warcraft and Diablo prior to DAOC. Spent bout 2 years in myth and finally saw the light and joined bwc. Was told I should have joined along time ago when josh cere sirion all left myth and I stayed behind. I am pretty down to earth guy, I am always willing to help others just as long as they help me when I need it.

Really just trying to find what I wanna be in life but Ive let too much time pass me by, time I cannot get back. I wanna do something in the electrical or computer field, but I keep getting side tracked. Time to put all the childish things aside and get the gears moving.

Let's see my story... Well I'm fairly young, 21, compared to all the corpses that have reached from the grave to post their stories. So I could probably go over most of my life story here and it won't take up much time.

As for where I've lived: I was born in Giddings, TX, and I believe it was a month or so after I was born my dad was gone. My mom remarried and we lived in Fort Hood for a couple years; my step dad was an army officer. We then moved to Germany for a few years, I believe it was from when I was 2yrs old to 5yrs old. We did move back to the states before I started school. I lived in Rockport, TX, roughly 30 miles from Corpus Christi until I was 18, and now I'm living in Austin.

As for my education: I was a pre-K drop out. That's right, I hated the idea of getting up early just to go play. So at the age of 5 I convinced my mom that I could just stay home and play. What I didn't know is that they did teach you basic stuff in pre-K, like your ABCs and stuff like that. So I ended up teaching myself the ABCs. I was an A student all the way up through highschool and graduated the top 10% of my class, I think I was #7 or something. So it was pretty easy for me to get into UT here in Austin. That's probably the worst thing that ever happenend to my college career; getting into UT without having to try. I spent my first year as a CS major at UT, and I freaking hated it. I was, and still am, much more into sitting in front of the computer playing games instead of staring at code. So I ended up dropping out of UT, and I didn't even finish my second semester. This is kind of a sore spot for me and I'm still disappointed in myself for doing it. But it's done. So I realized I wanted to do something with a bit more risk, but also required a logical mind. This of course brought me to Criminal Justice, which is what I'm studying now at ACC (Austin Community College). Yea it's a Community College but it's still hard paying for it yourself. After this semester... hell after this speech tonight I'll have my Associates in CJ, and after I get my license as a peace officer (3 more classes which I'll take next semester) I think I'll try and transfer to another 4 year university, and hopefully I won't fuck that up.

How bout jobs: My got my first job ever at the age of 15, and I've been working ever since. That first job was working at my friend's grandpa's fish house. I'm not going to go into detail but it was a physically nasty job. I worked there for 2 years until the place went out of business. Then I got a job at The Boiling Pot as a cook. I worked there until I graduated from Highschool and moved to Austin. Luckily enough, the only other Boiling Pot was up here in Austin. So I had a job waiting for me when I moved up here. After about 5 years of cooking cajun food I kinda get tired of it, not to mention my paychecks started to bounce, and so now I'm at my current job. Pushing paper at an insurance agency. The pay is ok for a college student I guess, but dear lord I hate this place. My goal is to finish my CJ degree and either work for a state agency, or if our luck holds out, to start a PI business with my uncle.

Wow this has gotten kinda long. I'll just finish up with my gaming. I think my first game to play was on my uncle's pc. I think the game was Pitfall and the guy was a green stick figure. Or maybe the first game I played was Oregon trail... whichever came out first. My first online game was some text based drug trafficking game you dialed into for free and pretended to be a drug boss in charge of shipping drugs. My first real addiction came when I started MUDing. I MUDed quite a bit through highschool. In fact I used to play it so much that I eventually ended up having a few dreams that were text based. Now that's f'd up. After MUDs came EQ. I played EQ for about a month or two... and then went back to MUDing (it was so much better imho). I started DAOC when it released which was my first semester in college... maybe that didn't help me out there heh. I played on Guinevere with my roomate for quite awhile. I joined the Seekers of Truth (I was a huge Jordan fan at the time) and later went on to found Vigilance with a few friends from SoT. I'm not sure if anyone remembers the original GM, but he had a merc named Valle, and he was a damn cool guy. I met D while playing in Vigilance. I had a one of hte first ice wizards and he had recently bought one and he used to always send me tells about how he was PWNing it up. I knew he secretly looked up to my pioneering ice wizardish self. Eventually he convinced me to head to Andred with him and that's where I hooked up with CoE, then we moved to Merlin and become part of BWC, then back to Guin(it was D's idea) for the famous Murder Inc stealth group... and finally back to Merlin again.

Anyhow there's lots of gaps in all that but like I said, I could type out my life story before lunch was up. Oh and before I forget I want to mention a few things... I love bowling(in the idea world I'd be a professional bowler), and I want a motorcycle!

I'll play along too.

29, recently married (She played as Brook on Palo, and Saphyre here and Andred), no kids and no plans to have any. Degree in psychology, yet have worked in IT, well a long time. I ran an ISP for about 4 years, broke off and did my own consulting business (including a contract for the ISP) for another 2 years, running every flavor of OS outside of mainframes. Landed a contract with the DoD at a marine base in town for 15 months, and now am sr unix admin at an international shipping company.

Of course, I hate computer work. Can't stand it one bit. Especially crappy ass microsoft systems. I'm applying to grad school, and plan on getting a masters in general psych. After that, hopefully Julie will have finished up her specialist degree (she graduates with her masters this summer) and we will be financially stable enough for me to head down to gainesville and get a phd in neuropsychology.

I want to teach, and neurology is a fascinating subject to me. I don't have the heart to work on animals, and the two closest programs to me both focus on that type of work. UF's clinical (god I still can't believe I am considering a clinical program) focuses on acedemics and research more than practicing. But at least it would let me work at a private practice on the side while teaching.

Teaching is my "psuedo retirement" plan. You get 3 months off in the summer, 2-3 weeks around xmas/new year, 1 week in the spring, and a ton of holidays, plus you only "go into the office" 2-4 times a week (schools here avoid friday classes). Sure, it doesn't make a fraction of what I make now, but I'm not overly ambitious anyways. And that is where the private practice would help out :)

As for gaming. Played the atari way back when, all kinds of arcade games. MUD's is where it started for me online, and to this day I don't feel any of these MMORPG's has done a good job of capturing what a MUD written by a bunch of strangers for free could deliver. Maybe one day.
