Candide wrote:It has actually been getting a bit of press lately. Was in one of my magazines we get (gotta love those free mag offers) and when bored this weekend I saw it listed on a number of top 10 most anticipated games lists. Their website has some (of course) really positive reviews from those in alpha.

At least it looks like it will be a change of pace.

Candide, any suggestions on mags with 'free offers'?

We get them from all sorts of odd places. I primarily fly with Delta, so the few times I fly with someone else I sign up for their miles program, and then turn those miles into gifts. Since 95% of the items on those lists are pure junk, we end up with mags. United comes to mind.

I see them pop up now and then, like on our last cruise, we attended some raffle that had where you could sign up for a few.

Some of the "survey" sites offer them as well for participating. Uhm, those stupid little inserts in your credit card bills, we got Sports Illustrated for a year from them. I did a balance transfer once, wanted to close some cards but didn't have the cash to pay it off right then. Did it online and afterwards they offered some.

Great thing about SI, is you sign up for say a free year. Your year ends, then you get about 3-6 months worth of "this is your LAST issue, renew now!".

We get a bunch now, Gamepro, GMR (oh, electronics boutique has a program, 10$ you sign up and get 10% off all used games for a year, and a free year of the mag), PSM, psychology today (SUCKS, even to people in the field), SI, Golf Digest, Island traveler or something like that, Outdoors mag (think this just ended), some cat magazine.

I'm getting Game Informer (3$ when I bought my GC) and PC Gamer (free deal).

SI (10 bucks for 2 years )

Stuff, FHM, Maxim, Blender all free.

For me a mag is about a 30 minute read so I dig on picking up the sales. I'm looking for a few solid business mags now for when I am feeling particularly boring.

I've gotten some deals on business 2.0 magazine. Only business one that comes to mind at the moment.

I'm the same way, considering 40-60% of a magazine is ads, and then factor in the fact I'm not even interested in over half of the content in most, they don't last long.

Doing good. Glad the wedding is overwith now. Back to normal life. Both my cars broke down so I now have two new ones (kia suv and sedan). Looking into buying some kayaks, and fixing up our boat (perhaps selling it and buying a nicer one).

Also will probaly enter a masters program this fall for general psych. I've been talking to univ. of florida about their neuropsych program lately. When Hyla/rich is done with medical school, he has a private practice to step into for neurology, and we are thinking of doing our own perhaps, or at least joining that one. Still many years away though :(

Can't really, trying to do this so that I don't have to move. Julie

Plus UF's clinical psych is heavily research and acedemic, and weaker on the clinical aspect. I still can't believe I am even considering it. They call it the "scientist practitioner" model. Their neuropsych program is linked with Shands hospital (actually in the same building) and works closely with the Brain Institute, which is a truely awesome facility. One of the cooler things they were working on was spinal transplants in reptiles. How freaking cool is that?

I mostly want to teach, money certainly isn't what I am after, but having the ability to do private practice on the side, even just as a part time basis, would help pay the bills better, and let me teach wherever.

Blah Istarted this like 2 hours ago. Super busy today

They aparently opened earlier than that, I've heard a few say they have played around in it. Any thoughts about it so far?
