Reroll dorf. 44 hammer, 46 bs, rest parry. Or 49 hammer, 43 BS, rest parry (slawpy's spec).

Kobolds are completely useless cause their naturally high Dexterity and Quickness are meaningless on a skald. Dexterity to parry, Quickness to Evade(and weapon speed).

I made a dorf skald and I was thinking about going 50 bs (they have a nuke at 50 plus health regen) and 39 hammer, rest parry. Comes out to 0 points left to spend.

I wouldn't see that big of a difference in melee damage would I?

47/46/5 Lawx spec or
46/44/17 Lawdogs spec

First spec is a skald gank group spec. Second is classic skald spec at this time. GL bro ~

But I want to know...

those spec's are best. You can't just say it and expect me to do it... I need empirical evidence.

If I had to do it all over again I would have a general creation guide for each class in Mid for you cats. Here is some shit to think about playing skald (just my take) -

Skald creation guide -

Race -

As a skald you are a low priority target and should design yourself to do as much dmg. as possible 8v8 is very easy with CC win and solid target selection. In saying this ditch Kobald (love you Barbos). I know people are Kobi fanbois but it makes little sense. In DAoC, parry is a weak skill and skalds MUST spec 2 handed so high dex. is useless. Back in my glory days (1st year DAoC) there was a general str. cap allowing red buffed dorfs and norse hit like trolls but that is now removed allowing trolls to hit harder then any other race. The draw back to troll is your avatar is so fucking huge it can hinder you in RvR (easy to target, hard to hide). Dwarf offers an interesting choice doing less dmg, having more hits, and for 8v8 the ability to create 'similar avatar' death groups (ie. all dwarf and kobi groups dressed the same).

If you are trying to be the best 8v8 group there is go Dwarf as long as the rest of your group plays dorf/kobi trying to cause target hesitation. Overall there is no better skald then a troll for the simple fact they deal the most dmg. with the highest wpn. skill. I imagine ToA haste only helps this. I honestly still need to contact my gaming sources about ToA game and it's effects on general game mechanics. To sum it up if you are targeted as a skald the battle is over. Either you are one of the last up or your enemies just fucked themselves.

Weapon Choice -

I was a complete fanboi of hammer for the underused snare styles. 270 degrees and great snare peeling. There are way too many idiots that play DAoC and did not understand the utility of the hammer chain. I outdueled Brutalix a high RR zerk (#2 or 3 on Merlin) with a RR5 thane wearing bad armor, using the snare styles and locking his ability to shift. Throw in the low end. cost on some solid dmging styles and you had the best style line in the game ALL REALMS. The drawback with hammers has always been it has very few positive bonuses against enemy armor types. Rag or no rag, with ToA it seems hammer is taking the back seat to sword for Spear of Kings.

Here is Godorn talking about that and a TL telling him hammer is SOL for now ~

Spec -

There are tons of skald specs. To boil it down you have 2 minimums that you should reach, have at least 39 weapon and 43 BS and your spec line. It's been shown through tests that for overall damage efficiency in RvR, 47/46/5 weap/BS/parry is far more effective than 44/46/17.

For test logs, see the team skald boards.

Now did you take the time to type all that out or is it copy and paste? :)

Thanks Law.
