Teamspeak

Postby Eirene » Wed Dec 17, 2003 7:58 am

Ok...after some begging/pleading...

Right now, I can allow about 5-6 members in Jeff's (Phishbone) gaming clan TS server under the DAoC room. Currently, Jeff has 30 members in SWG sucking his bandwidth. :P

In about 2-3 weeks, the guy that hosts the server is getting dual T1s and will open up a room just for me so I can have about 15-20 members. :)

Aye, does sound good. Are GL's the only ones who should use it tho?

I used RW a long time ago when i played some FPS. The problem was EVERYBODY wanted to talk. I havn't used any recently, so I don't know how Teamspeak handles getting "stepped on" with too many transmitions. Seems that in battles, Club BWC, and RK attempts. The GL's should be the one's using it. With there respectives groups always stuck to them. Or, only GL's can speak, while the rest of the peeps can listen.

If someone has used it recently, i would lke some info on it. I'm just curious how efficient they are now :)

But i like the idea. Bigtime.

"only GL's can speak, while the rest of the peeps can listen"

this is probably best, if too many people speak at once in a TS server it all comes out as non-understandable garbage.

You also have the same problems with speaking as you do with typing... People yelling INC but not what direction, that sort of thing. It's still a good thing, but the hardest thing is to keep the actual amount spoken to a minimum. You don't need to talk to do the normal communication like asking for buffs or saying thank you or whatever. People like to make jokes. The value of talk software really goes down if people use it as a substitute for all typing.

It should only be used by the leader, and the followers should only speak when it's an immediate RVR related thing they need to say like INC left, or "behind that tree!" or whatever. We'll need assface to do alot of shouting to get people trained at not using it to babble.

2 people that frequent the room are Lee and Missy. They play on Hib MLF. We all used to play on Hib MLF at one time so I don't think they'll mind the company. For Right now I can only have about 5-6 people MAX.
