Ok so I just bought a new 8800GT card, got it in the mail today. I put the card in hooked it up like I should and such, but when I power up I get a black screen.

So I hooked up the old onboard card again to power it up and I don't get the Add new hardware messege.

I rechecked the card to make sure it's set right and it's getting power and it is, the fan is turning and everything. I tried disabeling the old onboard video card and I still get a black screen when I power it up connected to the 8800.

I can't figure out why my machine isn't finding the new card...Please I need help! Two days until Conan and I don't have a working Video card AHHHHHHHHHHHH. :toothy10:

/bump

Here's my machine specs

AMD Athalon64X2 5600 + Socket AM2 duel-core processor

Hitachi 250GB 0A33423 Sata2 U300 7200RPM *MB RoHS Hard drive

Gigabyte GA-M62SME-S2 Socket AM@ NVIDIA GfForce 6100 DDR2-800 PCI.e board

4Gigs Corsair 6400 DDR-2

I hope to god I didn't get a dead card. I dunno a way to test it to see if it's working or not if I can't find it on my Hardware list...

The only real way to test it is to hook it up on a different computer (like a friends) and see if it works on their machine. It is possible that the card is no good.

you uninstalled all the old drivers for the old card?

Did you plug the extra power cable connection that connects from the powersupply straight to the video card? If it has more than one connector, are the both plugged in ?

Uninstalled old drivers, and from what I've read it only has the 6-prong connection. Still not reading new hardware when I boot from my onboard card. And still a black screen when I boot from the 8800.

Dunno... may be a bum card then...

Have you tried the other DVI port on the card?

Tried a couple things, still no luck. I updated what I did on the EF boards so if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know. :toothy10:
