video card issues

my mobo is SLI ready. this new card i bought is Crossfire ready.

does that mean i cannot use it with my mobo even if its just a SINGLE card i want to use? i thought those parameters only applied once u start using two video cards.

are they incompatible even in a single card setup?

If the mobo is SLI, then most likely it is fine with Crossfire.

Basically it needs to support the bandwidth needed for two cards, include two pcix16 slots. Plus the whole marketing thing that goes along with it..

Anyway... I believe all newer ATI cards are Crossfire "ready", but you have to have a Crossfire edition card to go with it to put two of them together. To answer your question, yes you should be find using any single card. You are also probably fine using a Crossfire setup.
