Having 2 gigs a RAM does a world of difference for your computer. I myself am running 2 gigs of Crucial DDR.(I have a AMD based system). So my advise would be to aquire another gigabyte of the current memory you're sporting. Has for the 3-4-4 configuration numbers, their function still eludes me but you learn on a daylie basis about this shit, so if i find out, ill let you know.

Your motherboard indicate that you are also running a AMD based system.

What Processor?:

How big a PSU(power supply)?:

How much are you willing to spend on a new GPU?(graphical processor unit):

My current GPU, Nvidia 7900GT has shader 2.0 and my god, playing Doom 3 and Far Cry just got creepier, but several dimensions to be exact.

Shader 3.0 is gonna blow your mind, that is ofcourse but the chance that you are the owner of a system that can run Crysis at high-ultra high settings. Crysis Q&A + Video

Currently Shader 3.0 is limited to the new 8800 models from Nvidia, and those models, aside from being PSU straining pieces of hardware, are fairly expensive. But if you got the cash, and am willing to drop around 550-600$ for a 8800 card then by all means, do so, just make sure your PSU can handle it and that you ain't got a processor from the last decade.

(that would basicly mean any single core processors are fucked on this level, so go out and buy a dual core and join the computer hardware sensation before we all murder you!).

Hope this helped.

Understanding RAM Timings

nVidia has been on Pixel Shaders 3 since the 6600GT-6800 series.
ATI is supporting it as of the X1000+ series.

And dual core processors don't really help much in gaming (at least not until they start making multithreaded games). :bigups:

Bah, your right on the shaders part. :P

And yes dual cores help in the way that you get one core for the game, 1 core from the system processes that run in the background. :satisfied:

1. I have a +3500 AMD venice

2. power supply i think is 500w

3. gpu? u mean video card?..... prolly like 300 i saw that that the x1900xtx from ati is pretty rocksolid and ive seen it for 270ish..by rock solid i mean i read a few reviews from websites like tomshardware and checked out customer feedback like at newegg. etc

thats the card i have my eye on but by all means if something else works im down for that.

OH AND JUST TO ADD i found out my mobo can support ddr400 not near the best but not too horrible. if u guys know of any good brands of the top of ur heads for this hit me up. ddr2=me cry :(

WHAT U THINK OF DIZ!

That's what it says on their website... the x1000 series are DirectX 9.0c Pixel Shader 3.0... including your X1900

Check it out here: http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonx1900/specs.html
