Epic Fail Website

Postby Tingtong » Tue May 13, 2008 12:48 am

I was able to punch out phpbb forums as well as a custom designed template for our WOW Chapter. I will be working on one for AOC shortly, however I spent a good portion of today putting in permissions to get my guild from wow up and going before raid. The good news it's UP and ready for you to register!

It's a temporary site until I polish everything off and sent it to barbos hopefully BEFORE Sat.

you can also check on the status of the mainsite here..

Again it will be going threw multiple design changes, mods, and adjustments so bear with me. This is 1 day of work, now imagine a few weeks.

Also, any graphic artists out there who would like to design the Epic Fail Logo, have at it. I have no artistic talent whatsoever.

do we want to stick with the skull as part of our logo, or something completely different? Any size requirements for the logo?

Skull is generally our guild tabbard, logo can be anything, as far as size keep it moderate. Nothing too huge.

Personally I would rather have a more custom look (even if it's simpler looking), then something that looks like it's a copy of the game's own website and forums...

Dunno what others think :bigups:

/shrug personal preference I guess

The forums is a custom theme, so it's not a copy of the their forums or their website.

I do like making gaming guild websites just an extension of what I see in-game. It feels more comforting then some generic php template that uses a different color scheme. Those feel like a dime a dozen. Gaming sites are lots of eye candy, and that what I like to see when hitting up a guild site. :D

Yea it's not a copy, but it does feel like "official" type forums to me...

Personally I like more of a middle ground... I'm certainly for more eye candy than what we have here, but not so much that it's distracting, or makes the site slower. :D

Anyway, that's my opinion... I was curious of what others thought ?

I'd be happy with something just like this site. I don't know why we cant keep all our aoc stuff on here, this board could use the action. Plus I have a feeling people will post stuff on here or there and forget to check one or the other.

Well I wanted to ask the same thing Nilbert asked, why not keep things here?

It doesn't matter to me but this board is famous lol. The traffic as of late has been double or maybe even triple of what it was a week or two ago.

Well, it's two fold really, we had alot of notoriety/popularity in DAoC as BWC, so people remember these forums and come here. Which is good for recruitment.

In a new game however, under a different name, any fame we make for ourselves would cause people to look us up as Epic Fail rather than BWC. If they wanted to app for the guild, for example (since we hopefully won't do any open recruiting or spam VN for recruitments) they wouldn't be able to find out where to do so if our forum base was here. Of course, they could just ask I guess, but whatever ;op

edit: just make sure it's not affiliated with WoW ;p

Plus it's already a multi-chapter guild not only do we have 35+ people for AOC chapter, but I started a WOW Guild a few days ago with 30+ members for a Hyjal/bt guild. (8 of them I know in RL) Well have some who play both chapters, but we'll also have a whole new double and possibly triple chapter (DAOC Classics) guild to pull people from for a WAR (4th) Chapter.

We picked up a lot of trash in WOW from people following the BWC name. This like Sirion said, gives us some anonymity to BWC fanbois. Were keeping a tight lid on who we accept.
