Looking for a game for work

Hey people,

I am looking for the types of games where I can give orders to my armies, decide what to build, etc and play against people all over the net. These games were popular in the old BBS days, but I have no idea if there are any good right now.

These games usually have no or low graphic, I just need something to give me a break at work.

Let me know if you know of a good one, fantasy or sci fi being the best for me, and no I dont want games where I feed my pig or penguins.

Civ4 w/ the BtS xpac imo. Probably the best game in regard to reply value of all time.

I think what he is looking for is a turn based strategy game that you play with people around the world.

Dawn of War and Civ4 Beyond the Sword are both Real Time Strategies, although Civ4 does have that engine that allows you to turn it into a quasi turn based strategy game.

A real-time strategy (RTS) video game is a strategic game that is distinctly not turn-based by definition. In Civ4 you actually hit an "end turn" button to allow the computer its turn. The only simultaneous option in Civ4 is all human players can make their moves at the same time (not allowed in hot seat of course). All the Civ series games have been turned base with gradual modifications to allow more fluid and shorter games. Dawn of War is however a great game and a great example of RTS game play.

Galactic Civilization is a great turned based strategy game. It has somewhat modern graphics though so if you are looking for a text game this isnt for you. I can say its a great game though. I'm not much of a strategy gamer much less a turn based one and I replayed this thing several times.

I am trying Travian, looks ok, its what I am looking for, but something more medieval would be nice.

All i am looking for are small games I can manage from work, I cant play galciv 2, etc.

btw
I am playing gto4 on 360 at home, and I was hoping for something mindblowing that would change my whole life, and well, its not, its just another game. I will try it a bit more tonight, between hockey periods.

I have to agree with you about GTAIV. I'm suprised it gets such good reviews. There is nothing all that innovative about it.
