OK I'm in beta. To be honest I think Vanguard will suck. Sorry, not looking forward to a 10 hour caravan ride (by the way that is 10 real life hours) to get from point A to raid point B and then have to spend 10 more real life hours to get back to point A but lets rock it out and chk i out.

Unfortunately it's looking like Warhammer is all we have to look forward to. I spent some time researching DnL/SOG and from screenshots it looks like an SB clone ... just as ugly and with potential to be just as buggy as SB was.

Ex-EQ creators + Microsoft involvement doesn't point to a enjoyable game IMHO:

The "Vanguard" team includes McQuaid and Steve Clover, both of whom co-authored the original design document and led the design team for "EverQuest." McQuaid then served as the producer on "EverQuest," with Clover driving development as lead programmer. Working with McQuaid as "Vanguard's" co-producer is Jeff Butler, who also co-produced the "EverQuest" expansion "The Ruins of Kunark" and later served as producer on the highly successful expansions "The Scars of Velious" and "The Shadows of Luclin." Rounding out the "Vanguard" leadership team is art director Keith Parkinson, the award-winning artist responsible for the painted box art for the original "EverQuest" and several later expansions. More information about "Vanguard: Saga of Heroes" can be found at the official site at http://www.vanguardsoh.com/.

Sigil Games Online is a game studio dedicated to the development of massively multiplayer games. Formed in January 2002 by Brad McQuaid and Jeff Butler, both key figures in the development of the massively multiplayer runaway hit "EverQuest," Sigil Games plans to play a key role in taking MMORPGs into their next generation and beyond.

I am hoping the graphics improve some. I understand it is beta and graphics do not make a game but WoW was at least a year ahead in Alpha.

Yuk. Great points mang. Phineas needs to bust balls on Warhammer, we really need a new game.

wrt to DnL/SOG...

Side note, one thing I found quite amusing was them quoting how LARGE their world was in relation to previous MMO's. Apparently it's more than 100x the size of EQ ... but they fail to mention how populated/detailed it is ! LOL. Anyone have some SB flashbacks where you have incredibly vast areas of nothingness ? 8)

Hell it may turn out to be a good game but from what I saw I honestly didn't get a good vibe. I'm all for a re-creation of SB by a real gaming company since I think the SB design was probably one of the best to make it commercial next to DAOC and something like that would have instant appeal for guilds like ours.

Oh well wait and see I suppose.

When you are in-game try to send me a tell. I have joined a BETA guild so finding a group is easier.
