what did you do with your rogue talents? Im still not entirely clear if talents are a suplement or defining trait of the class

I went 31 assassination 8 combat and 12? subt. I was an assassination spec'd rogue, I did very very well in pvp and pve, I went for casters/healers in pvp, I have no damn business messing with warriors, and yes I have owned a few warriors but its not something that happens everyday, I will post my exact build later. 2k ambushes, 1.5k evicerates with cold blood, 1k-1.2k backstabs were pwnage. Personally I love the rogue class with all my heart but im playing a warlock come retail due to the simple fact that getting daggers for rogues are a pain in the ass. I got all the good stuff due to my guild having high level 60 toons that farmed/quested all day, I refuse to be level 35+ using a level 15-20 dagger all because I cant get any of the good stuff.

Assassination Talents (30 points)

# Improved Eviscerate - 3/3 points
Increases the damage done by your Eviscerate ability by 15%.

# Malice - 5/5 points
Increases your critical strike chance by 5%.

# Ruthlessness - 3/3 points
Gives your finishing moves a 60% chance to add a combo point to your target.

# Improved Slice and Dice - 3/3 points
Increases the duration of your Slice and Dice ability by 45%.

# Lethality - 5/5 points
Increases the critical strike damage bonus of your Sinister Strike, Gouge, Backstab, Ambush, Ghostly Strike, or Hemorrhage ability by 30%.

# Vile Poisons - 5/5 points
Increases the damage dealt by your poisons by 15%.

# Cold Blood - 1/1 point
When activated, increases the critical strike chance of your next Sinister Strike, Backstab, Ambush, or Eviscerate by 100%.

# Seal Fate - 5/5 points
Your critical strikes from abilities that add combo points have a 100% chance to add an additional combo point.

Combat Talents (2 points)

# Improved Sinister Strike - 2/2 points
Reduces the Energy cost of your Sinister Strike ability by 5 Energy.

Subtlety Talents (19 points)

# Master of Deception - 5/5 points
Reduces the chance enemies have to detect you while in Stealth mode. More effective than Master of Deception (Rank 4)

# Camouflage - 3/5 points
Increases your speed while stealthed by 9%.

# Opportunity - 5/5 points
Increases the damage dealt when striking from behind with your Backstab, Garrote, or Ambush abilities by 20%.

# Improved Ambush - 3/3 points
Increases the critical strike chance of your Ambush ability by 40%.

# Initiative - 3/5 points
Gives you a 45% chance to add an additional combo point to your target when using your Ambush, Garrote, or Cheap Shot ability.

That's probably what I would do, although moving two points out of camo and into initiative could be really nice. If you crit on any of those abilities that Initiative has a chance to add points to (75% chance at level 5) then you will get two bubs added because of Seal Fate. That means if you crit on a Cheapshot then you get 3-4 points from 1 move (depending on Initiative's 75% chance), if you crit on an ambush (which is 40% more likely to happen than normal with the ambush talent, which means it's something like a 60% chance total) you will get at least 2 points, maybe three and you will have done some crazy damage because of lethality.

I left the combat tree out of this particular template because I think this one is better for solo pvping, or taking opportunities during zerg vs zerg encounters to kill some back row casters/healers really fast. You can drop some of the assassination/sub trees (probably more from subtlety personally) to become more combat oriented if you prefer grouping, although I personally think that Seal Fate is one of the best talents that a Rogue can get, and since Cold Blood is a prereq for it, that means you will automatically have another really good talent, that will actually MAKE Seal Fate fire.

There are a few talents in the assassination tree that I picked up just to be able to get Seal Fate, although I think that the ones I picked are the best ones to go for overall. The only thing that would be nice to have would be the improved AF Debuff, but I would rather have Improved SnD since the haste is probably just as much of a DPS bonus as the debuff would prove to be, plus you proc your poisons faster.

Zera, there seem to have been quite a few more dagger drops added last patch or the patch before it. I haven't really checked them out much because I was playing with my Warrior, but I may make a Rogue for an alt to solo PvP with when noone is around, and after looking at some of the new daggers (one has a proc that guarentees a crit for the next 3 attacks in a row, which is awesome for a DW Warrior with flurry as an offhand, and a Rogue that has Seal Fate) I don't think it would be too hard to find a usable selection at any level range.
