Ramming can be tricky at first, so here's a good tip from Giskard of hib/guin:
My top tip for building a ram:
Face the door, keep backing up until it allows you to build, once built, do a /groundset 550 and the ram will move itself in a straightline forward up to the door. Select the door, hit Aim/Fire, if you are too far away, do a /groundset 100 and you'll move closer in your currently faced direction.
Stops people driving round the ram like they are trying to park in the supermarket.
And I yoinked this out of Syual's (hib/guin) siege guide:
**********Diminutive Siege Apparatus**********
A DSA is all the components of a siege engine in a nice little package that is light and takes up only one pack space. To build the siege engine, open your Siegecraft menu, and pick one of the lists labeled Deploy Diminutive TYPE. Drag the icon to your qbar, and click it. If you have the corresponding DSA in your pack, it will build the full siege engine at your feet.
A talented crafter can find the option to make a DSA in their primary trade menu. In your pack, you need to have the components of a siege engine plus two new items. All components are able to be crafted, but are also available on siege merchants. Once crafted, the apparatus can be put on consignment merchants, handed off to other players, or stuffed in your vault. Each has the weight of seventy (70) stones. The recipe for a ram is:
1 ferrite ram cladding
1 ferrite siege ram beak
2 tanned swing harness
300 ironwood wooden boards
1 flask of glacial essence
1 frosted gem of condensation
