Mordred Gank Group

OK I have been talking to several people about this over the past few days. I am working on the group comp. with the upcoming changes. My group was essentialy ownd by Killets (on paper) who was able to add a caster in the shammys stead -

enchanter has the best nuke with debuff, and the pet owns if your chanter has half a brain, but eldritch might be easier to play.

Killets Group -

    druid (31reg, 44 nurt)
    cleric (40rej, 36 enh)
    healer (44pac, 30r)
    bard (43n, 47m)
    lurikeen eldritch (50mana, 20 light)
    savage
    merc
    hero (50LW, 42sh)

that way you'll get almost all resists to 50%, GP/BoF, hero can slam and you can pbae bomb with AE stun if the opportunity arises, otherwise healers kite into eldritch for pbae win. merc has PF. eldritch can disease for the win. you'll have 2 rooters, 2 mezzers, 3 spreadheals, 2 buff shearers. i might argue to take chanter over eldritch though, so you can have 2 pets, and chanter can drop 1 enemy support before the battle even begins. debuff heat, nuke, nuke nuke will kill can make it 8v7 in seconds.

I choose not to include a shaman because your group end is fucked if they go down, they have no utility besides rooting, disease and end, and their end is fucked if shaman dies. bard has more utility anyways, can provide dual role for speed. the only argument for shaman is Speed6, which i dunno... it'd be a tough choice. its convenient, but this group combo above would own any shaman-based group, since if the shaman dies first, GG.

Snot, any interest in playing a merc on Mordred...you are simply one of the best tanks in the game and have played a merc before. I want to try to snatch Warcat and CSboy back and sucker Ting into using a chanter. I know my boy Jaap is in for 8v8 but have no idea what he wants to play. Jaap you were a Druid in LA/ES?

replace bard with minstrel for ablative chant and speed and replace merc with blademaster.

no bard = no end
no bard = no alternate mezzer. its also arguable that bards are better mezzers to begin with, because they can open with an insta amnesia. bard is also a backup healer.

i picked merc because of the way better armor.
the 5% extra evade a blademaster gets is pretty trivial. it can be a tossup though. they both serve the role of PF / high damage with decent armor. you could even go with zerker there too, except pierce damage is cooler :)

Bards get tore up by Mordred savage, blademaster assist train. I speak from personal experience. 2 BoFs, 3 insta heals could not save me. We used to run 2 clerics, 1 healer, 1 shaman, 2 savages, 1 blademaster, 1 minstrel (or bard, skald).

Cleric, Healer, Shaman (37 aug 37 cave), Minstrel, Hero (LW), Blademaster or merc, Savage, Druid

the point is, bards are expendable after the opening mez.

after which, you can rez them whenever you want, and end song back in 3 seconds flat.

the other 2 choices for end are shaman (low utility, no spreadheal, end basically gone on death), and paladin (low dmg output comparatively, end runs out after 2 min, no determination).

thus, bards are the best solution.

and bards are the best mezzers with the insta amnesia :)

i forgot to add also, they have the longest range end regen.

a well played bard is also extremely uber, even minus the end regen. they can mez-peel, heal better than shamans (1.5x skill points), superior class specific RA, the best interrupter in the game with insta amnesia and short timered DDs.

thirdly, you have to have a caster in group. with ToA, casters are far from gimp, and you must have a contigency plan if they BoF or SoS (i.e.... PBAE4TEHWIN!).

i would love to play a merc (or bm) on mord. i have a 29 or so bm already (and a 41 skald, from my PRX days...:\)...only downer is my play time is midnight central and beyond, i can't play afternoons and evenings. but hell, i'll start working on a merc, or continue my little bm and we'll see what we can put together. i wish i could just pay 50 bucks and transfer my 50 merc from lance to mord...he's a damned amazing toon.
