Small force Relic Raids

Last night 32 Mids ninja'd a relic on Bedevere from the hibs.

I bring this up because this shows that 4 groups can handle relic guards if people work together.

I've said this before, but I think it's a solid plan, so I'll spout it over and over until it works.

Attacking Excalibur in Forest Sauvage is a bitch. Even if you get to the RK without spies finding out, trying to get all the RK doors down with only 3 rams/door before the massive alb zerg arrives is a tough nut to crack. So there are two ways you can go about it - Huge ass midgard zerg or with speed of execution. I hate big zergs, so my post here is about speed, and how we could do it fastest.

It used to be that you could put 8 rams on each door. The last Wyrd/Darkstorm/BWC raid on excalibur we did this and went through all three doors in 7 minutes. We can't do it that way anymore, only 3 rams per door. With 3 rams thats about 6 minutes to drop each door - 18 minutes total. Figure another 2-5 minutes slowed by guards and you are talking 20-23 minutes total. Not fast enough unless it's in the middle of the night.

How can we do it faster? Only drop door 3, don't worry about D1/D2. Shadowblades are the rammers, they are grouped with a PBT runie (or 2) standing against the wall, and one or two mend healers standing outside using spread heals. The heals will draw aggro outside where the rest of the mid force will deal with the guards. The force fights the guards next to a side door, not the front door where albs would expect us to be. This would also allow us to blockade one of the two RK doors without splitting the force as we deal with guards. We could get a relic and be out of there within 8 minutes - not much time for albs to respond.

The other huge advantage is that when 80 people get on the RK and albs see the guard spam they get super motivated. But if they see 35 vaders in the guard spam they might not realize what is happening.

So I'd love to see us try to do this sometime. There's a great spot to rally on the east zone wall of Sauvage. A little flat spot on the zone wall where I rallied with a Wyrd raid before. I'd suggest we set a time in advance for groups to meet there and move there in single groups so as not to alarm the albs.

Josh, I love the idea, I know we have 3 ramming SB's in just BWC.

Set a time and date and lets do it.

heck, try to find 6 sbs which ram skill, so we can plow d2.d3.d1 all at the same time.. i'll even bitch at a CRS to give my SB a trade respec =)

albs have alot of chars logged inside the RK I've heard so that might be a problem to count on

1 fg - 2 healers, rm, 5 sbs - 3 sms on rams 2 for logging in albs could work for d3
and some gtae on rammers spot to take aggro off em too

great idea. Myself and some others were discussing another strategy for RKs PvE style. Don't laugh hear me out :nervous:

Get a bunch of shield spec warr/thane. Have 2 keeps down in albion or so, so there won't be that many ubers. The most important thing is to take the keep for the master wizzie. Have the tanks engage the guards. Friggs for the group to survive the initial hits before engage kicks in. 6sec PBT and s/s warriors will keep all guards occupied while we can drop some rams on the doors. It may or may not work, but it would be funny as hell to take a RK w/o killing any ubers.

i don't know if anyone else pointed this out but you can have more than 3 rams per door :) the restriction is that only 3 rams may damage the door at once.

you can have 9 rams on the door, providing that no more than 3 are damaging the door at the same time.

Twice now on the Kay server the forces of Hibernia have pulled off a very incredible tactic for taking relics. Basically, they crowd control the RK guards or kite them to prevent spam. Have a troop of stealthers climb the relic stealthed and drop rams on door 3. Simultaneously, the stealthers are then supported by the Hibs on the outer doors, which, at times, they do not even bother to damage. At this point the spam starts. The result is a 5-7 min relic raid tops. This tactic is basically impossible to defend against. Sure you can log alts in or try to watch the keep to prevent this( I was watching the last time this happened and by the time I got inside and in the tower, door 3 was at 50%) in peak hours, but they will just do it off peak if that is the case.

They have basically turned the holding of relics on the server(and I am afraid soon in the game as a whole) into a joke, far from the epic endeavors to get that they should be. Basically by exploiting bad Guard AI, using the climbing abilities of one class(and god knows the forces of Albion could do this better with 2) they are bypassing a true assault on a rk. Knocking down one door and grabbing a relic and being gone before any forces can even leave Yggdra gate. What is the point in going to get relics, devote time and money to fixing doors, if the end result is, with a well timed raid, you have zero chance to defend.

Something at the Relic Keeps need to be changed to prevent this sort of raid. I will not make suggestions as to what, but I do not feel that this method is what Mythic intended relic raids to be like.

Disclaimer: I do not begrudge the Hibs on Kay for doing this and congratulate them on yet another successful use of it. I just honestly feel that this is NOT working as intended...

That's a great point dannica! I would like to see if we could take a door down with 5-6 rams. The technical point is worth trying i think. Only three rams at a time can damage it, but, what about another three, at another time. It's worth a try, just to see.

Josh why dont we set a time and assault the fort from one of the GK's.

2 groups of SB's healers, RM's, one for rams, one for any bowman or inside stuff.

I know Bugsi + Xilys have ramming skills.

Everyone else outside.

Set a time and date and lets go right to it. also by being at the side we can avoid the mages.

Anytime im not wokring i can be there i can usualy know if im working a few days in advance so u need to let me know a well a few days before the actual raid.

Edit: this weekend is a no-go for me since its my prom night and well then theres a huge party and im gonna be too shit faced to walk to the computer chair the next day :P i might be on either early saturday or really late sunday. oh and not monday eithre since i have a huge presentation i have to do tuesday morning i need to get rdy for :huh:
