BWC Warhammer Guild Beta

Postby Twystyd » Mon Jul 07, 2008 10:03 am

Well, we have been invited to the guild beta and are honored to participate. We now have in total roughly 30 accounts or so guild wide. I would like to thank Marty (aka Elfdropper) for putting in the effort and initiative in writing the content and Barbos for the presentation. In case anyone missed it the story that got us in can be viewed here.

We have had about a dozen members in beta for up to a year now and so far the feedback is universally indifferent. Some really enjoy it and some believe it will be a WoW clone with updated graphics. The one thing we all agree on is we hope it's going to turn into a well developed game in both innovation and code quality. I also hope the pvp community stops being looked at as a niche group of gamers and will have their pallet satisfied with the game as well.

For now Deathwhisper AoC will have to do until something else comes along. Happy hunting.

:toothy10: Yes Mythic hinted that they would start guild beta sometime this week. Speculation on the forums are hinting that guild beta participants will be starting @tier 3(level 30) content considering that the first beta phase was tier one and the second was tier 2 content.

At any rate I have heard so many mixxed reviews from all you guys I'm interested in testing it for sure. I'm actually happy mythic has put off the release for so long to polish.

I still have 2 beta keys left BTW. :toothy10:

ya will be nice checking it out. One thing I'm not looking forward to is the graphics, they look wowish and I don't enjoy an mmo if the graphics are crap. I prefer graphics like daoc, lotro, or aoc. Will there be a place we can talk about warhammer outside of the game?

Being able to play on a majority of PC's is what makes wow so successful.

They can't all be cutting edge.

daoc didn't impress me when it first came out... I only remember one location that looked good.

:toothy10: I always liked the fluidity of wow's movement and enviroment's and I think AoC has to some extent taken that to the next level. All the character animations are so smooth it's very eye pleasing.

My only quam with AoC graphics is that the entire game is almost too real...it makes me feel I dunno like it's to realistic to be a fantasy game. The colors and enviromental detail while realistic and awesome, are drab at times imo.

From what I've seen of WAR the graphics seem to have a darker grittier feel than WoW but still have some of the realism that AoC has brought to the table. :toothy10:

The graphics are definitely similar to WoW, only grittier like Elf said. Much more bright colors in WoW's environments compared to WAR that's for sure.

I personally have always loved WoW's graphics because of the roots from the Warcraft games and I like WAR's as well. Absolutely hate the bad attempts at "life-like characters" look that so many MMO's like AoC have tried. I tend to look at Gameplay --> Animation Fluidity --> Graphics when looking at games though /shrug.

Postby Elfdroper Gravelender » Fri Jul 11, 2008 11:03 am

Well everyone unfortunately we are all out of codes as of this morning, I gave the last of the 20. I'm sorry I couldn't get everyone a spot=/

Anyway a bunch or crazy news about the game. http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm?GAME=239&FEATURE=2041&bhcp=1

Sucks about the classes but meh 20 classes is hard enough. :toothy10:

City news seems reasonable, class changes could be a problem though :onfire:

They dropped 4 classes and 4 cities!

BTW, we started on Tyrion server destruction side so expect to see us there. The population is fairly balanced at this point but Order has been on the weak side of the population for most of the day. We almost always play the "evil" side for the sole reason of trying to avoid market realms and the advantageous end of the population scale. If the trend continues to favor Destruction we may have to reevaluate our old model as the one thing we dont want to run out of is people to kill.
