December 23rd in marvelous southern Minnesota and we'll have a high of -6 Farenheight today. Wind chills of about -35 or so. Frostbite on exposed skin takes less than 5 minutes. But hey, it keeps the riff-raff out, thats for sure! No vagrants loitering about here! My wife woke up to a wierd noise during the night last night and tells me "Jon, I think I heard something", and I reply "really honey, do you think some dipshit is going to be out burglarizing when it's 30 below!" and went back to sleep.
It's so cold the layer of freezing rain that coated the state before the cold snap won't melt with the salt they are dumping on the roads and sidewalks. So it's cold as hell, and you get to watch Darwins survival of the fittest when people drive on glare ice. It really does weed out the stupid people. It also reminds you that with 4 wheel drive you can go like hell but can't stop worth a damn.
On the positive side, Minnesota once again was rated the healthiest state in the nation. This weather must toughen us up.
Now if it would just snow a little more so I could get out the snowmobile and take the kids skiing....
