I really don't know where this opinion comes from. How one looks should not determine how they act. Whats the difference if your dad is an HA and has a shitload of tats or if your dad is a computer programmer who looks like half the people who play DAOC? it shouldn't enforce any parental skills. He could be the best dad and his daughter could be raised to be perfect. Society and friends also plays a large role in how she will turn out.

I would much have a loving father and mom who looked like freaks then be a poor kid raised by a single mother living from paycheck to paycheck. Besides, its his life and his body. His daughters life won't be a result of his choices as a teenager to mutilate his body ; being tattoos, piercings, body modifaction etc.

Ok, that site led to my having some pretty farout dreams last night.


I spoke to a good friend of mine who told me that self mutilation and similar acts to ones self are usually a direct result of major depression. [shrink buddy of mine]

He told me that he has been told and has learned that the mental pain that is accompanied by various forms of depression can often times lead someone to "hurt" themself as a way to mask the mental pain.

It would seem that even if for a brief time period the physical pain takes the place of the mental pain that the bloodshed, scars and yes, even the attention are viewed as worth it. An exchange of sorts.

There have been countless studies on self mutilation and the correlation to mental depression, and after speaking with my friend and reading up on it for only a short period of time all I can really think about right now is how very sad it all really is.

These are clearly people desperately calling out for help. [IMO]

Thats body modifacation. The same as piercing or tats, just by using scaring to create a design. Its been done in cultures for thousands of years. Its not something a lot of "pop culture" people understand these days.

self mutaliation is stabbing yourself cutting yourself with various things

No offense, but had you guys looked at any of the other links that guy has on that forum, then maybe you would have room to talk about if it's self mutilation or not. He's done face suspension (mutilation) he wants to try a suicide suspension (mutilation). He even acknowledges that it's mutilation, but he thinks it's beautiful.

Also, one can absolutely come to the conclusion that because he hurts himself intentionally, his daughter's life may indeed be messed up. He said that arm-band that he can't even describe (so he has no clue what the fuck it is really) he did for her, when it, in fact, does absolutely nothing for her. He did it because he wanted to, there is no symbolism behind that mark on his arm. It's widely believed that people are products of the environment that they are raised in. This guy may be as safe as you possibly can be when doing this stuff, but I find it hard to believe that anyone that's as selfish as this guy seems to be will be "the best father ever that will have a perfect daughter." Like I said before, he did this for himself, not his daughter, but hey I could be wrong, , maybe getting it cut into his arm instead of shelling out cash for a tat is his way of starting her college fund right?
