A 6-foot-tall, 275-pound bearded man crashed a children's birthday party in Oak Forest, identified himself as "vengeance," then helped himself to a piece of cake, police said.

The incident occurred earlier this month at a home in the 14800 block of South Landings Lane in the south suburb, Deputy Police Chief Nick Sparacino said.

When the owner of the home asked the man who he was, the intruder replied, "I am vengeance. I am the knight. I am Batman." Then the man went into the kitchen, cut a piece of birthday cake, took it into the living room and ate it.

After continued questioning by the homeowner, the man left the house and drove off in a red 1988 Cadillac.

Police haven't found the man yet and want to charge him with criminal trespass.

"I've been on the job 31 years and I've seen a lot of weird stuff, but nothing like this," Sparacino said.

Police say a 21-year-old man dressed as Superman attacked some motorists in Ann Arbor early Sunday.

A group of men stopped their car to talk to some friends outside an Ann Arbor home when the alleged attacker jumped out from behind some bushes and into the vehicle, Local 4 reported.

"I guess this young man jumped in the back seat of the victim's vehicle and just started hitting him and when the victim attempted to call using his cell phone, (Superman) grabbed the cell phone and he stomped on it," said Sgt. Angella Abrams, of the Ann Arbor Police Department.

The victims said when they got out of the car, people from the house party came toward the car, and a large street fight broke out, according to The Ann Arbor News.

No one was fighting when officers arrived, but two witnesses were able to show digital pictures they took of the alleged attacker, police told the paper.

Officers spotted the man in the crowd -- wearing a red spandex Superman costume -- and arrested him, the paper reported.

"He was in costume, and it was a pretty terrible Superman costume at that," said Mark Majewski, who witnessed the incident.

The motive for the attack was not known, according to police.

The identity of the man wearing the Superman costume was being withheld pending possible charges of assault and battery.

LONDON (Reuters) - A campaigner dressed as Batman, from the fathers' rights group that pelted Prime Minister Tony Blair with flour-filled condoms, staged a dramatic protest on a Buckingham Palace balcony Monday.

Police, faced with their second major security breach in four months, tried in vain to talk down the protester from Queen Elizabeth's London residence.

He unveiled a banner saying: "Super Dads of Fathers 4 Justice fighting for your right to see your kids." The group believes Britain's courts are biased against fathers in divorce cases.

"There is a protester on the balcony," a palace spokeswoman said. "It is a matter for the police." There was no immediate police comment.

The royal family is currently away on holiday in Scotland.

A spokesman for Fathers 4 Justice named the protester as Jason Hatch. He repeatedly punched the air in triumph, grinning and waving to growing crowds below.

It was the latest in a long line of stunts by the group.

The attack on Blair in parliament four months ago caused a huge security alert, closed the chamber and prompted immediate changes to access rules for the House of Commons.

It heightened fears that lax security could prompt a chemical or biological attack on the British government.

The Buckingham Palace protest coincided with the trial of a man accused of involvement in the Blair attack.

The man who threw the missiles, Guy Harrison, 36, was fined 600 pounds ($1,080) in May after admitting using threatening behavior.

His alleged accomplice, Patrick Davis, 48, appeared at Bow Street magistrates court Monday to deny the same charge. Some 20 protesters shouted their support for him outside.

Buckingham Palace launched a major review of security after the Daily Mirror newspaper placed an undercover reporter as a palace footman ahead of President Bush's state visit to Britain in November last year.
