Resists for Supp SM?

I know resists are huge, a must for tanks and healers. But for a Supp SM, i don't think it's really that big of a difference. Wearing cloth and running into suicide positions, we die most of the time anyway, Resists or not.

With resists capped, you may stay alive for 1 sec more, but it's not worth driving you crazy for a Perfect template. As long as i have casting speed, dex, con and hits capped i feel fine with it. Now im not ruling out making the perfect template. But it will take time. Once any caster gets that UBER 20% casting bracer....no holds barred.

Anyway...discuss. Let me know if my newb ass is wrong. I usually am :D

actually i found resist very useful for when i MoC, and seem to get instant arrgoo from 50 albs =). also when runing around solo and a stealther pops out.. it's those lil momments that count.

and as a PBAe sm, you don't always have to PBABOMB , hanging back and defending the healers/casters works great.. also staying at range to abuse instant aoe str/con dex/qui debuffs.. and FF on those nice soft mages out there.

Energy and body are nice ones to have capped, for those sorc mezz/root and minst stuns, as well as stealther poisons.

as well as melee resists.

just think about it..

enemies are going to be hitting you 300 damage a swing.

if you have 26% melee resists vs 20% melee resists,

you'll be seeing either:

222 (-78) or 240 (-60) every second or two.

Considering buffed you will have around 1400+ hp, that will be the difference in dying in 5 swings or 6 swings. You can go ahead and argue that living 1-2 extra seconds isn't that big a deal, but when you're MoC'ing, 1-2 extra seconds is an extra chance for you to cast another 3-500 damage PBAE.. which might be the killing blow to ensure your own survival.

Over full life, that 6% difference in resists will add up to 100 hp.
Would you ever want to SC a template with only +100 hp?

If you're really pressed for imbue points, you can of course sacrifice the less used damage types. imo, that should never happen however. MP cloth is so cheap, its almost trivially more expensive than 99% cloth.

i'm currently in the process of making a template for my enchanter on lancelot, and while i'm not done yet, its pretty darn easy to accomplish.

i'm just extremely anal about my templates, and i'm trying to see if i can get +400 hp on :)

Its from ML9. 9.8 mob I think.

Kea, In addition to melee resists, you should look into getting as much +AF items as you can. Cripp has around 650 AF with the charges up (10 minutes), which is as much as most Studded armor users have in AF. I dont know what he uses, but I can ask.

WOW. OK. thank you all. I will look into it. With the template i have now, im close to capping. but the resists are last. some capped, some at only 15%. I'll work on it
