Like the BIOS is set up for a server with all these wonky settings that I wasn't expecting on my XP install. Also DELL computers are really particular on the peripherals you use. That SONY CDRW-230 will NOT work. I know, I bought one and tried to get it to work. Worked on my home PC just fine but not the DELL. I swapped out another SONY line and it fired up perfect. Just MOBO compatibilities.

i dunno about bios issues, my shit works perfectly out of the box. didn't tweak shit. although because there are no overclocking functions, it reads the spd registers on ram modules, and clock its appropriately, so you gotta get true 4spd(i think its 4) modules for 400mhz, otherwise it goes down to 333, even if the modules are rated at 500.. hehe

as for the cd-rom, yea, my shit didn't work either.. LMAO. i just got the default 48x cd-rom. i could have RMA'd it but too fucking lazy.

Well, considering IBM sold off its HD division almost a year ago... makes me wonder where that 160GB IBM drive came from.

If you want Killets, I can tell you what CDRW I got to finally work with the thing. Just in case you actually want to buy one. You probably seen that sys on Slickdeals like I did. I like the case a lot. That clam design is soooo fuckin easy to put together. All in all I think my boss loves that thing. I did out a full PC with everything including a monitor for under 1k for her. It isn't a gaming rig but it is still nice.

I've RMA'd more IBM drives (specifically off of Macintoshes, as we wouldn't buy them), then any other drive brand we use (being Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum, or WD). Quantum comes in a very close 2nd.

Err, by RMA I mean lost, because IBM only has a 1yr warranty..

Quantum Fireballs were uber. Still got one chugging along in my sister's computer. Fireball LX 1.6gb. ^_^

The new Maxtors I love. I got 4 Maxtor HD's alone in my computer (40,61,81,120gb), and two 40's in my bro's. Never have they failed once and they are pretty quiet for an IDE ATA HD. That subpar ballbearing issue is long gone.

Seagate... too expensive for my tastes. WD, still strikes me as being subpar, though the 8mb buffer versions are tempting.
