Population Imbalance issues!!!

Before I start, I'm just warning that this is an "underhanded" way of using Mythic's disregard for population imbalances against them.

Basically the gist of it is, they have no rules whatsoever about what server/realm you can pick, so they can't stop anyone from playing where they want. Hence the population imbalance problems.

Right now, as I write this, Palomides has 1644 players. Lets assume 600 of those albs are losers who joined recently because the "Albs are winning". So we have 1000 Palomides players who most likely agree that the whole situation sucks.

So, moving on to my "Petition". Lets pick a server with a high population already during prime time. Right now Merlin has 3000 and Lancelot has 2500. I've read that Lancelot already has crashing issues because of the population. Anyway, pick a high population server, then all of us Palomides folks create a character there in one of the realms, and we park all of our 1000 lvl 1 arses in the Portal Keep.

If the 1000 people in the portal keep doesn't crash the server/zone, then at the very least, there's going to be alot of shit hitting the fan. I can't think of a better way to "get the point across" than by doing this. Only thing is, it's underhanded and we're going to fubar the fun for a whole server to get our point across.

Who would be willing to take such drastic measures?

Palomides was my main server prior to andred and merlin. It really sucks there which is one of the reason I left and went to andred. One of the last raids 3 grps of us hibs went to alb and took surs. within 15 min after we took it 145 albs showed up to take it back. 90% of the people were dead inside before the doors were down due to the cabbys. Another example, we went on a relic raid to alb and in the process of getting to the fort we ran across 1 alb, by the time we made it to the fort there was over 100 inside. on any given time in hib there is about 300 people on line and if u look at the #'s on the herald u will see approx 1700 people on palo. Hibs really do have it bad there.

The problem is going to be almost impossible to fix. I cant see them limiting the #'s of any realm on the servers. Me personally I jus moved to another server. A lot of people jus dont want to spend the time to exp again on a different server, and to be honest if it wasnt for u guys on andred and merlin I probably wouldnt have created another character either. I really like to rvr and doing exp kills me. I dont know of a fix for this BUT at the same time I dont think it is right for people on palo to come to merlin to try and crash the server and ruin the fun people are having on this server.

I also came from Hib Palo. Its not the albs that are complaining, its the Hibs. The Hibs there are completely outnumbered and have no chance at all. It was extremely frustrating (and apparently still is)
I came here because I recognized that there was nothing that Mythic could do to adress the population imbalance, plus the rampant cross-teaming was starting to get to me.
There's nothing like organizing on a relic raid only to find all the albs waiting for you at the HPK when you port over
Anyway, it was a shitty idea from people who are desperate for attention.
Palo is dead.

To be fair, Alb is pretty Gimped. Sure they have plate, but Armsmen still go down fast cuz a lot of people spec Crushing / Hammer / Blunt.

Alb's main problem, however, in my opinion, is the cleric. All of the 3 main healing classes, Druid, Cleric, Healer, have Buff, Heal, and a special line. This having been said, the Cleric's is a Damage line, not a support line. As a result of Smite, Alb has no AOE Mez or AOE Stun. This is their major problem.


I have a 50 chanter on Iseult, and i can say that first hand, having that mez is the most valuable thing to a grp. It allows you to the jump! With it the tanks and casters can be completely immobilized while the healers die. The rest is easy.


Because of this Lack of AOE crowd control, alb will always be the gimp realm. Pellinor seems to be an exception simply because of the sheer mass of albion population as mentioned.

I know the post was about population issued, but i wanted to make sure everyone knew that Alb has a reason to bitch Elf! "Typical Albs whining about bs..I hope mythic disregards them."

Agreed. This is a problem which is not going to die down though. People who played on a underpopulated realm on a server moved to a server with a more populated realm, making the situation worse on their old server. In short, these differences are going to exponentially increase in my opinion, not die down. Unless something is done. which there is. For example Since Alb is dominating on Pellinor, allow people to make Mid and Hib characters on pellenor, but not albs. it should sort out sooner or later if they did this imo.

The problem is you can't just not allow folks into a realm on a server...Friends just joining the game couldn't play. If you bought SI you couldn't make a new character on the same server you already lead a guild on, or whatever.

The only possible solution I can see is to allow character copying to happen from any server to any other server, with these restrictions...You can only join the least populated realm. The realm you are leaving can NOT be the least populated realm.

There would need to be some small incentive to moving over. Name issues are a nonfactor as far as I am concerned, just do it like Pendragon where name doesn't matter. If people don't like it they don't have to do it.

I really don't know of any other way to do it, at this stage. A while ago some artificial modifiers based on populations...perhaps. but not now.

Well, it is a problem that has been discussed sense the beginning of DAoC. Several theories have been tossed around but nothing seems to come from the suggestions. I will say this, I just had two family members get their orders for deployment in the gulf which really makes light out of the importance of this issue. I am also a little pissed they want to fuck up our server by hosting some circle jerk on the PK. Here was my response to their petition-

Heheh this is pretty funny....I honestly cant think of a good solution for the population imbalance issues....basically people should just move to a more balanced server, if you are too stubborn to change then you have to deal with it. I doubt more than 100 people will actually show up for this "protest", and it will be a huge waste of their time. word

Hey guys i come from hib palo also, things are very bad there. i think for the most part hibs and mids put together there dont even add up to how many albs there are, its no fun at all.

I have a 50 nightshade and a 50 warden there, i like playing them but enough is enough im tired of getting zerged all the time.

Anyway im glad im here in mid now and in this clan, i know some of you from palomides and the rest of you seem prety decent. I have a levle 10 shaman here now full augment so hopefully ill be of some use to you one day.
