Check out. It should be $498 before rebate, $398 after rebate. ($35 more if you upgraded the hard drive) FREE SHIPPING!

http://www.mushkin.com/epages/Mushkin.storefront/4022fdcf0008fdfe273fc0a801020614/Product/View/991089

Its awesome fast 2-3-2-4 RAM. $221

http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-102-268&catalog=48&depa=1

Its one of the fastest video cards available. $223

Total: $842 before shipping and tax for one of the fastest computers you can buy, with awesome dual banked RAM. No tax on RAM or Video Card though if you ship to your home. Shipping on the most expensive part, the computer, IS FREE :) You can save a few bucks and buy cheaper RAM, such as here:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-145-479&catalog=147&depa=0 Corsair Value RAM, for a total of $779. You can save even more bucks and buy a slower video card (ATI Radeon 9600 Pro instead Radeon 9800 Pro) for $138 here: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... =48&depa=0, for a total of $694.

After you recieve your computer, do the following:

into the brown slot here. Requires no tools! Not even a screwdriver!! just open the green clamp, insert, and close the green clamp:

Image

Insert this RAM:

Image

Into slots labelled #1 and #2 (you can see the numbers on the side). Requires no tools! just push it in!.

Image

Close computer. Should look like this:

Image

Turn on computer. Insert Windows XP CD (buy it if you don't have it already, or get someone to mail you a pirate copy). Follow on screen directions. You're set!

If you have any problems, call this number: 1-800-624-9896 Or you can call me (or khaja). With this computer, you get 24 hour free support for 1yr, and free on-site parts and labor. So if nothing happens, call the 1800 #, and a guy will be dispatched to your house with a giant truck full of supplies by the next day.

Note... this is my current computer. It has hyperthreading. It can run 2 windows of DAoC flawlessly. I constantly participate in 100-person ML raids in Stygia and Aerus, the most notoriously laggy zones, and I'm still able to play 2 characters simultaneously on the same computer better than most people can play 1 character alone.

I actually have a much worse video card. I use a GeForce4 Ti4400 with 128mb of RAM running at 1600x1200, with 2 DAoC windows side by side at 1024x768 each window. I usually have IRC/AoL running in one corner, and a DVD playing in other corner (DAoC raids are that boring). That is how fast this computer is. $694, you can't go wrong. 1yr onsite next-day parts/labor is amazing as well... ON SITE!!! don't have to leave your house. they carry most replacement parts on the truck, so instant repair/replacement in most cases.

An equivalent athlon64 computer:

Asus K8V Deluxe: $140
ATI Radeon Pro : $223 (for 9800 pro), $138 for (9600 pro)
Athlon64 3000+: $221
Respectable HSF for CPU: $30
Decent Case / PS: $50
1gb PC3200 RAM: $221 for 2-3-2-4, $158 for 2.5-4-4-6
40gb 7200RPM HD: $50
52X CD-ROM: $20
Total: $955 +EXPENSIVE SHIPPING (ESPECIALLY SHIPPING THAT CASE AROUND), and bad warranties (30-90 days if you're lucky, since all OEM parts, except for maybe the hard drive and video card.. but then you have to deal with getting them replaced, etc etc.. pain in the ass working with these small cheap taiwanese companies, or ordering from these god-knows-where internet vendors). Plus, you have to put it together, or pay/ship it to someone else to do it for you. Plus, its actually worse for dual-logging in, because of lack of hyper-threading. What happens without hyperthreading is, you have 1 window that runs really really smoothly and fast (usually the one you're actively playing), and the 2nd window is usually choppy and slow, which causes him to lag and unable to AF many times. This is crappy for playing 2 windows at once.

Wait.. let me get this straight...

A 2.08ghz Barton, running with a 333mhz bus, which costs more $, requires assembly and tech-know-how, and no on-site warranty, is somehow a better deal than a cheaper, hyper-threading 2.8ghz Northwood, dual channel 400mhz memory bus, on-site warranty?

HOW???

Without hyperthreading, you will dual window for jack.. just as I explained above.

Image

Do you see the Pentium 4 2.8ghz/200/2x200 right in the middle? And do you see the Athlon 2800XP /166/2x166 at the bottom? (read that as cpu / memory speed / bus speed).

Image

same thing here.

how about here:

[img]http://www20.tomshardware.com/cpu/20031223/images/chart_q3_640.gif
[/img]

here's some mp3 encoding:

Image

some splinter cell

Image

This isn't even taking into account hyper-threading and how much it helps dual windowing.

How about take this comparison...

My computer:

P4-2.8ghz + 1GB PC3200 RAM + Geforce4 Ti4400

Contre's computer:

Athlon 2600XP + 1.5GB RAM + ATI Radeon Pro 9600

Who do you think can dual window better? Contre can't even have the other account AF him correctly, while a lot of people can't even tell that 1 person is playing both my characters. :)

The best thing about the Dell computer, (the reason why I mentioned it to tav), is because he doesn't know much about computer. I just posted a step by step picture guide on how to setup the dell. This way, he 1) saves money, 2) doesn't have to buy all his parts, ship to khaja, then have khaja spend all his time putting it together, then ship it back to tav... takes longer, wastes money, 3) better warranty. Not to mention the dell is the faster computer..

I can even play DVD's at the same time on the same monitor (i have a dell 2000fp at 1600x1200, with 2 1024x768 daoc windows in opposite corners, with 576x432 spaces in adjacent corners, perfect for AIM/IE/PowerDVD :)

plus, i'll say it again, toolless, insert ram + video card and you're finished :)

and bulor, you forgot to factor that the dell has a free keyboard/mouse, and ships with a 128mb 400mhz pc3200 ECC stick of RAM, which sells on ebay for $40 (i sold mine for $45). You take $779 (fast video card, slow pc3200/ddr400 ram configuration), minus $40, its only $739 total :)

tom's hardware doesn't like the external linking of their performance graphs apparently.

here's another comparison:

http://www.digit-life.com/articles2/roundupmobo/p4-3.2ghz-vs-axp3200+.html

except the athlon is using a 200mhz memory bus, and a 200mhz ddr FSB, so its performing way faster than it would at 166mhz (PC2700).

The Dell may be better, cheaper, faster, easier, cleaner, more reliable, but does it have a warm place to stick your penis after a long day of worK?!

I say buy a date.

whoever needs on-site warrenty should kill themselves..

pents suck...

newegg.com has a great customer service incase any partsaren't up to par..

dells.. suck

40 gig hds? wtf are you thinking! hell daoc/si/toa are like 2 gig install alone.. let allong all those other games..

hell the inside of a dell looks like an abortion.. i once slit my wrist trying to put more ram into one of those things.

and hell, if you ever do open a dell, it breaks the warrenty seal..YOUR NOT ALOWED TO UPGRADE on your own!

and picking up parts from all these other sites.. you loos e astack of cash on shipping.. thus why your cost are going increibly high.

i have build around 8 computers from newegg.com, if you ever RvRed with me and djur(botted) you ever noticed on djur never trailed off like other bots would?, heck i'm sort of upset that my custum machine are so fan-fucking-tastic becuase whenthe alb zerg is running around.. I don't frekaing feel them in advance.!

Build your own machine tav.. and you wont ever want to see a dell again...

as for geting a athlon64... there is no point in that upgrade just yet.

Yeah Killets, I actually bought that exact DELL PC for my boss and built it out for her. She wanted cost over performance so it was perfect. They are dirt cheap and simple as fuck to work on. There are some small issues though if you are a gamer that kinda of ruin it as a perfect system. Like the BIOS is set up for a server with all these wonky settings that I wasn't expecting on my XP install. Also DELL computers are really particular on the peripherals you use. That SONY CDRW-230 will NOT work. I know, I bought one and tried to get it to work. Worked on my home PC just fine but not the DELL. I swapped out another SONY line and it fired up perfect. Just MOBO compatibilities.

As for Tav, it is hard to beat the system they are building for him. I don't charge money for building people computers and even I couldn't beat it. Getting parts at cost is pretty much the best you can do. I would have chose a different case and power supply but that is me.
