I use microsoft anti-spyware (counterspy if you want to pay $$$'s) to get the usual stuff, and the rest I do manually.

man, just go into your task manager (hit ctrl-alt-del if you still can't find it), goto view, select columns, and check "CPU Time".

Now click the "Processes" tab, select, "Show processes from all users", then sort by CPU Time. Or if it's running slow right now, sort by CPU.

CPU Time = how much time a specific process has eaten up your CPU

CPU = how much of your CPU is being used by that process right now.

find the offending process or processes and report back.

D,

Kill is correct although it may be hard for you to figure out what is a valid process or not.

Download and install Hijack This. Run it and report the log back.

Goto: www.zdnet.com , search on downloads for "Hijack This" to get a reputable site to pull it from.
