My D Drive.

My D Drive doesn't work some times. Like when i put cds in it should auto read right? it doesn't, now i cant install certain software saying it has a error and has to shut down any ideas?

Question -

Do you have anything else connected through the same IDE cable?
If so, and your not having problems with the other device on that IDE, then your CD is on its way out. If your having problems with both devices, then its the IDE cable or controller on your MB.

One other thing is that the CD your trying to read fucked or the drive is not balanced correctly.

I've you are using burnt CD's and you have switced brands or something... sometimes you run into drives that don't like certain kinds.

It could also be windows. I've had XP screw up so if I swapped CD's, it wouldn't change in my computer (or autorun the inserted cd)...

The Creative software sometimes conflicts with the autorun as well.
